Nzioki Mungao, has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Investor Solutions Graduate Scholarship. The $10,000 scholarship, which is awarded annually to an incoming graduate student in one of the School’s outstanding graduate programs, is specifically designated for U.S. military combat veterans. This recipient of the scholarship must have been honorably discharged, and must demonstrate financial need.
“In establishing this scholarship, we are pleased to support students in McIntire’s prestigious, nationally recognized graduate programs, and we are proud to honor our nation’s veterans,” says U.Va. alumnus Francis C. “Frank” Armstrong III (A&S ’66), President and Founder of Investor Solutions Inc. Armstrong himself is a Vietnam veteran.
Mungao, who hopes to lead IT development teams, is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He has served in Ft. Stewart, GA, Ft. Bragg, N.C., and was a part of the peacekeeping effort in Sinai, Egypt with the Multi-National Forces and Observers. “Being a soldier was a childhood dream and I am glad I served,” says Mungao.
Upon service completion and honorable discharge, Mungao used all of his post 9/11 GI-Bill to complete his Associates Degree in Business Administration. He continued on to get his Bachelor’s Degree in English language from the University of Virginia. “By awarding me the Investor Solutions Scholarship, I am able to concentrate pm performing at the highest level the MS in Management of IT graduate program, without worry of incurring additional student loan debt. Your financial generosity gets me one step closer to my goal and has inspired me to help others by giving back to the community.”
Mungao was selected for the scholarship by a committee composed of McIntire faculty members and a representative from Investor Solutions.
